100 New Apprentices To Be Created

I have nothing but admiration for Amey, Birmingham's newly appointed highways contractor, responsible for almost everything on our streets in Brum.
They have just announced that they are to appoint up to 100 new apprentices. Many of the new apprentices will be based at Colmore Plaza in the city centre. They will have a proper Carree development plan, study and  work towards a nationally recognised NVQ and at the same time have an opportunity doing their D of E award.
In a time of austerity, when employers all around us are cutting back, this is very good news, particularly for the younger generation, lets hope more local employers take the good example that Amey are doing and create more apprentiships for our youngsters.

  1. Thank you for publicising that Birmingham is again ahead of the game in ensuring that our Graduates have access to real work experience to give them the skills that are required to make then valuable to the cities businesses. Apprenticeships give graduates the 'employability skills' that they need to get on in the workplace, and that the employers in the city tell us are missing. We need to ensure that all graduates have access to this form of experience, it can only be of benefit to the city as a whole.

Further to my two previous emails, I would be delighted to meet you, and put forward the evidence that my committee gathered, to attempt to work together to encourage more schemes like the above.
