CUTS TO YOUTH PROVISION
The Tory Lib-Dem Council continue at making cuts, now it's with the valued Youth Service, which provide essential cover within and beyond the centres, with a number of the hard to get to youngsters around the ward. I'm informed that The Den in Dawberry Road will shortly only be open for two evenings a week and cuts will also begin to effect The Maypole Centre in Idmiston Croft.
OUR AREA IS CRYING OUT FOR MORE PROVISION FOR YOUNG PEOPLE NOT LESS
Both Barry Henley and me are opposed to any such cuts and will do what we can to save existing Youth Service provision here in Brandwood.
At a recent public meeting at The Council House we had a commitment from all the Labour Birmingham MP's to take this issue to Parliament.
If we don't ensure that the present youngsters are engaged with, using the professional services of youth workers, there will be yet another generation lost to society, as happened with many of those now aged in their late thirties early forties.
