The thought of private businesses running some of our colleges, for profit really gets my blood boiling.
Having been a college governor for a number of years, I am aware of the bureaucracy they have to deal with on a daily basis. I'm also aware that whatever extra money they make and it's not always a large amount, is re-invested back in to the college, unlike a business which would have to pay dividends to the shareholders.
So let's forget about that idea, ensure that college corporations and senior management teams are adequately trained in their roles and supported in providing first class facilities for students of all ability and ages.
